Cookie Policy
Effective November 5, 2026 · Last updated November 5, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Unionwear uses cookies and similar technologies on unionwear.com (the "Site"). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit. Cookies let a site recognize your browser, remember choices you have made, and understand how the site is being used.
Related technologies work similarly. Pixels (also called web beacons or tags) are tiny image or code snippets that record that a page was loaded. Local storage keeps information in your browser rather than in a cookie file. Where this policy says "cookies," it means all of these.
Cookies set by unionwear.com are first-party cookies. Cookies set by other companies whose services run on our pages are third-party cookies.
2. Why We Use Cookies
We use cookies for three purposes:
- Necessary operation. Keeping the Site working — page delivery, security, and protection against automated abuse.
- Analytics. Understanding which pages people visit, how they arrived, and where they run into trouble, so we can improve the Site.
- Advertising. Measuring whether our advertising works, and reaching people who have shown interest in our products.
We do not use cookies to build profiles about your personal characteristics, and we do not use them to collect sensitive information.
3. Cookies on This Site
Necessary
These keep the Site working. They are set by our own software (Magento for the product catalog, WordPress for the blog and contact pages) and by Cloudflare, which delivers the Site and protects it from attack. They cannot be switched off from our side, though you can block them in your browser.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| frontend | Unionwear (Magento) | Keeps your session while you browse the product catalog | Session |
| frontend_cid | Unionwear (Magento) | Protects your session against tampering | Session |
| external_no_cache | Unionwear (Magento) | Tells the Site whether a page can be served from cache | Session |
| product_family | Unionwear (Magento) | Remembers the product family you are browsing | Session |
| customer_registered | Unionwear (Magento) | Remembers that you registered for a pricing account so prices display | 1 year |
| PHPSESSID | Unionwear (WordPress, blog and contact pages) | Keeps your session on the blog and contact pages | Session |
| _cid | Unionwear (WordPress, blog and contact pages) | Visitor identifier for the blog and contact pages | Varies |
| cf_clearance | Cloudflare | Records that you passed a security check so you are not challenged again | Up to 1 year |
Google reCAPTCHA, which distinguishes human visitors from bots on our forms, and Google Fonts, which serves typefaces, may also set cookies or read browser identifiers necessary for those functions.
Analytics
These are set by Google Analytics:
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes individual visitors | 2 years |
| _ga_<container> | Google Analytics 4 | Maintains session state | 2 years |
Advertising and measurement
We run Google Ads conversion tracking and the Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram advertising). These record that you visited our Site so that advertising can be measured and, in Meta's case, so that audiences can be targeted. They are not loaded for browsers that send a Global Privacy Control signal (see Section 4).
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _fbp | Meta Pixel | Identifies your browser to Meta so advertising can be measured | 90 days |
| fr (set on facebook.com) | Meta | Meta's advertising identifier, set when the Pixel loads | 90 days |
| Local storage entry | Meta Pixel | Stores Pixel state in your browser rather than in a cookie | Until cleared |
| test_cookie (set on doubleclick.net) | Google Ads | Checks whether your browser accepts cookies | 15 minutes |
Third-party services occasionally change which cookies they set and for how long. The names and durations above reflect what we observe and what those providers document; treat them as accurate at the effective date rather than guaranteed. For current detail, see each provider's own cookie documentation.
4. How to Control Cookies
In your browser
Every major browser lets you see the cookies you have, delete them, and block new ones. These controls are usually under Settings → Privacy. Blocking all cookies will break parts of most websites, including ours.
Opting out of specific services
- Google Analytics — install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on
- Google advertising — adjust your Google Ad Settings
- Meta advertising — adjust your Meta ad preferences
- Industry opt-outs — the Digital Advertising Alliance and Network Advertising Initiative offer combined opt-out tools
Global Privacy Control
Some browsers and extensions send a Global Privacy Control signal. We treat that signal as a valid request to opt out of sharing personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising: when your browser sends it, the Site does not load the Meta Pixel or Google Ads conversion tracking for that browser.
California residents
Because our advertising cookies disclose information about your visit to advertising platforms, this may count as "sharing" under California law. You can opt out by emailing [email protected] with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information," or by using the Global Privacy Control signal described above. Your rights are set out in full in Section 6 of our Privacy Policy.
5. Changes to This Policy
We will update this policy when the cookies on our Site change materially, and will revise the "Last updated" date above.
